Library Management Solution for Gloucestershire and Swindon Libraries

Gloucestershire Libraries & Information (GCC) and Swindon Libraries (SBC) are currently reviewing the provision of the support and management of the hosted and managed software solutions used to manage customer transactions, stock data and customer data. As part of developing our plans to meet this requirement we are issuing this Request for Information (RFI). This RFI is one vehicle by which we can systematically identify similarities and differences between suppliers in the market, and additionally gain a greater understanding of specific suppliers’ abilities, core business and strategic outlook with respect to the potential library management solution. Both library services have shared outcomes but we have different procedures, IT systems and infrastructures meaning the offer might vary between the councils and this RFI tries to capture this. However we feel that by sharing the workload it delivers better value for both the Councils and suppliers. This RFI captures all areas of interest in library management software for both authorities. We are using this market testing exercise to inform our understanding of library management solutions, and therefore to inform the procurement strategy we decide to use. This research exercise will help to inform us of: • The market’s ability to deliver GCC’s and SBC’s requirements • Market capacity and flexibility to deliver this procurement; • How attractive is this opportunity to work with GCC and SBC should investment be needed by a supplier; • The potential level of interest in bidding for this contract.
