Stoke-on-Trent City Council wishes to appoint a provider for its direct payments service: direct payments is the means to offer the provision of money to individuals, to pay for care services in accordance with their care and support plan, providing individuals with more choice and control as to the care they receive as long as their eligible needs are met. . Adult’s services — The service provider will be required to support people to manage direct payments given to individuals by the Local Authority, to ensure the individual is confident in the care being provided and confident in managing the finance element of direct payments. Encouraging empowerment and independence. Childrens services — The service provider will be required to provide a support and advocacy service to all children and young people up to the age of 18 and their parents/carers who access direct payments who are assessed as eligible via the children with disabilities social care team. The service provider will also support children and young people and their parents with a seamless transition of direct payments support (should the need still be there via assessment) from children’s service to adult services.
