Tender description

The contract is to design and construction of refurbishment works to the East and West Piers in Whitby Harbour. The piers have suffered damage over the years, and the works required include repairs to the masonry blockwork including filling of voids due to material loss, the provision of new sheet pile scour protection to the East Pier, concrete repairs to the promenades, installation of flood gates at Battery Parade slipway and possibly a new footbridge to link the East Pier with the Extension Arm. The refurbishment elements will be designed and constructed to withstand the conditions of being located within a coastal environment and in particular the increased storm activity in the exposed north Yorkshire coast line.
