Summary of the work This is a specialist technical development role required to deliver an exceptionally high standard of code in accordance with the DVLA’s business requirements. To undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS). To work on various projects to deliver mandatory legislative changes to the central vehicles system. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 9 Months Latest start date Friday 7 September 2018 Maximum Day Rate £600.00 per day inclusive of T&S Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams in the DVLA. What Specialists Work On Required to undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS). The work includes technical analysis, low level design, production and unit testing of code using CA GEN. The specialist will be allocated to specific projects (including, but not be limited to, changes to the calculation and collection of HGV Levy and other published budgetary changes to vehicles Excise Duty (VED) ) and make technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions. The requirements and technical solutions will be provided by DVLA’s business analysts and technical architects. Skills & Experience • Provide evidence of development experience (minimum of 3 years) in CA GEN in a UNIX environment. • Provide evidence (minimum 1 year) of using SQL with an Oracle (or equivalent) database. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 2 years) of assisting business analysts or business representatives to formalise or clarify requirements. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in the production of low level technical designs and documentation. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in definition and execution of formal unit tests. Nice to Haves • Provide evidence of experience (minimum 1 year) of writing UNIX scripts (working knowledge of C and KORN shell scripting) • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 1 years) of writing PL/SQL scripts on a UNIX platform. • Provide evidence (minimum of 1 year) of GEN development on an AIX (IBM) platform. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite. Standard working week/hours to be managed by the Supplier as they see is appropriate. Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision.
