Tender description

Provision of a confocal Laser scanning microscope system with 7 laser lines, 34 confocal detectors on an inverted microscope. Specification: LSM 880 based upon Axio Observer research inverted microscope and Airyscan module. Includes 34 channel detector, Airyscan with fast, piezo Z drive, motorised XY stage, incubation including CO2 and O2 and the full range of 7 lasers (405 — 633 nm). The LSHTM wish to inform the market that they intend to award a contract for the supply, installation and maintenance (including warranty) of an confocal microscope system, LSM 880 with Airyscan detector, within the faculty of Infectious and Tropical Disease at the LSHTM. The systems has an optical resolution corresponding to 0,2 AU pinhole diameter and efficiency corresponding to 1,25 AU. No other system can match the ability to optically increase SNR simultaneously without increasing the overall light dosage and / or acquisition time without loss of high frequency information, i.e. the pinhole must remain open at 1AU or higher at all times. The instrument is to replace an existing LSM 510 which means that users can readily adapt to the new system and software. The system will also be compatible and augment with both a Zeis AxioObserver and LSM 880 held in a separate facility used by our researchers.
