NHS South of England Procurement Services (SoEPS), acting on behalf of Health Education England (HEE — the Commissioner) are commencing a tender for the provision of a Improving Surgical Training, External Evaluation and Research Tender. The aim of this procurement is to identify a qualified lead provider to evaluate the outcomes of the Improving Surgical Training (IST) pilot in England and Wales, which seeks to improve the educational environment for Surgical Trainees. This exercise will assess the impact of the IST intervention; capture the perceptions of those involved; and develop a nuanced understanding of the new features and mechanisms trialed in the pilot, using a range of objective and subjective measures. The aim of this procurement is to identify a qualified lead provider to evaluate the outcomes of the Improving Surgical Training (IST) pilot in England and Wales, which seeks to improve the educational environment for Surgical Trainees. This exercise will assess the impact of the IST intervention; capture the perceptions of those involved; and develop a nuanced understanding of the new features and mechanisms trialed in the pilot, using a range of objective and subjective measures. The maximum value of this contract is 225 000 GBP over 3 years. This is annual funding of up to 75 000 GBP on a pro rata basis over 3 years. These figures are inclusive of any applicable VAT. The initial contract will be 3 years, with the option to extend by up to a further 2 years. This procurement is being run under the Lighter Touch Regime, as a one stage open process.
