Tender description

The project is currently in RIBA Stage 3 which is due to complete March 2018. The emerging design proposals assume block retention of the Alexandra Wing which fronts onto Gray's Inn Road, and the full demolition of Sussex, Victoria and Levy Wings that form the courtyard behind. The three demolished wings will be replaced with new construction (2 basement levels 1 double height, 5 stories above ground and 2 stories of rooftop plant) of approximately 17,450m2, forming large and efficient floor plates suitable for modern science in response to the brief. The design proposals include a separation between the Alexandra Wing and new-build laboratory building to the rear, with connections above ground level and public realm between new and old.
