Tender description

BRE is a world-leading, multidisciplinary building science centre, with a mission to improve the built environment through research and knowledge generation. The Open Innovation Hub aspires to be a building of architectural distinction and merit that will demonstrate the BRE’s own tools and standards through its design, construction and operation. The Open Innovation Hub will be located on the BRE Campus in Hertfordshire and will sit on the site of the redundant 1960’s office block, Building 4, which is to be demolished, in advance of this contract. The project is to provide a new office facility for B1 use, providing a mix of CAT A and CAT B space. The proposal comprises four split floor levels providing office accommodation and co-working spaces, basement areas with cycle storage and a roof pavilion and terrace. The project is to achieve a Breeam outstanding target on the Shell and Core. BRE intend to proceed with a single stage procurement route to appoint a main contractor to deliver a new office facility on their campus in Watford under a JCT 2016 design and build contract. The intention is to novate the design team. Following the pre-qualification stage the BRE intends to invite between 3 and 5 applicants to tender.
