Design & Build of Upgrade Works at Coill Dubh WWTP

Kildare County Council proposes to undertake the provision of upgrade improvement works at Coill Dubh sewage treatment plant, adjacent the village of Coill Dubh, approximately 15km north of Naas. The current plant has a design load of 2,000pe and comprises of an inlet pumping station, storm tank, inlet screen, primary tank split into anoxic and aeration sections, and membrane bioreactor secondary treatment system prior to discharge. The plant also has a chemical phosphorous removal system. The agglomeration caters primarily for domestic effluent. Studies have shown a significant volume of infiltration into the agglomeration. The reason for the upgrade plans in question is due to the incumbent end-of-life of the existing membrane bioreactor system, and the high cost of currently operating and maintaining same. It is envisaged that short-listed Tenderers will be capable of either retrofitting the existing wwtp layout so as to comply with the Works Requirements, will build on new facilities, or will do a combination of both. It is intended to pre-qualify a maximum of eight bidders through this Restricted Procedure, based on the information supplied in the returned Suitability Assessment Questionnaire from all bidders.
