Tender description

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden and GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS England (Central Midlands) would like to inform you of an opportunity to provide an 8-8 General Dental service to cover the whole of Milton Keynes with an anticipated start date of 1.9.2019. The contract will be for 25 000 Units of Dental Activity (UDAs). The 8-8 service will provide high quality healthcare using a multi-disciplinary approach and appropriate skill mix. This model of care for General Dental Services is designed to offer routine dental care as well as unscheduled care for patients not linked to a dental practice. The service will be expected to encourage patients into routine care either at the provider’s site or with other local dental practices. The Dental Practice will be open from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year including all Bank Holidays. When local practices are closed the 8-8 dental practice will provide the unscheduled care service for Milton Keynes. It is expected that the practice will work closely with the A and E Department at Milton Keynes General Hospital (MKGH) other unscheduled care providers; 111; Directory of Services (DoS); local dental practices and the NHS England Local Office to ensure patients can access dental services promptly and appropriately. The service location must be fully accessible for all members of the community, with good transport links and ample parking facilities. Please note that this expression of interest has been designed to allow the market visibility of the proposed opportunity and support early engagement. It is the Commissioners intention to share the draft service specification and invite comments from Providers. Once the draft specification has been uploaded onto the portal, a broadcast message will be sent to alert all providers who have already registered, that it is available for review. Details on how providers can give feedback on the draft specification will be included. Please note that whilst there may be an opportunity to comment, the Commissioners are not obligated to incorporate comments or change the draft specification. The aim of the expression of interest exercise is to: 1) support NHS England’s informed decision making on the potential options on the future commissioning of these services; 2) To help refine the commissioning and procurement approach and; 3) To gauge the level of interest from the market of capable providers with capacity to deliver the services illustrated above.
