Bandon Sewerage Scheme – Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Tender description

This project spans 2 separate site locations on the outskirts of Bandon town; the Glasslinn Road Pumping Station and the Bandon Wastewater Treatment Plant. The sites are currently inter-connected by 2no. rising mains with a new 350mm rising main to be constructed under the current contract. An overview of the works in both locations is as follows; Glasslinn Road Pumping Station • Design and construction of a new covered combined storm/foul water pumping station; • Design and construction of new control building, welfare facilities and store; • Construction of a new ESB substation and new back-up generator with day fuel tank; • Provision of odour control facilities; • Decommissioning and demolition of the existing inlet screening, grit removal chamber and pump house; • Design and construction of a new stormwater overflow chamber and discharge pipeline Bandon Wastewater Treatment Plant • Design and installation of new inlet screening and grit removal units; • Design and construction of a new reinforced concrete stormwater storage tank; • Retention and refurbishment of the existing Primary Sedimentation Tanks; • Design and construction of a new system to replace the existing surface aeration system in the Aeration ditch; • Design and installation of new air blowers; • Upgrading of the sludge wasting & recycling system and upgrade works to the existing half bridge scrapers, scum removal equipment, vee-notch weirs and diffusion drum at the existing clarifier tanks with replacement of scum boxes and items found to be beyond repair; • Installation of new Return Activated Sludge (RAS) pumps, new Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) pumps, instrumentation and electrical control; • Design and construction of a new Picket Fence Thickener; • Replacement of the existing sludge dewatering building, all existing control panels and instrumentation; • Hydraulic upgrade of interconnecting pipelines & provision of a telemetry system to communicate between all pumping stations on the network.
