Track construction works

Tender description

As part of the 389 000 000 GBP Tyne and Wear Metro Asset Renewal Plan to modernise the system between 2010 and 2021, certain track assets between Gateshead Stadium and Felling Stations have been identified as being non-compliant installations or at the end of their life expectancy. Specifically 4 areas of plain line track require renewal, these sites geographically are located between the tunnel portal in Gateshead adjacent to Gateshead Stadium Station and Felling Station. The works to renew the track are planned to be undertaken in the early stages of financial year 2019/20. The works scope will include, but not limited to: — Renewals of rails, sleepers, ancillary items and ballast, including the installation of a geotextile membrane, — Installation of new 6 hole glued IBJs, — Additional removal and replacement with new, including rails, replacement of pandrol clips, insulators and railpads (Ancillary items). Nexus has identified Extended Control of Line (ECoL) possessions in April /May 2019 inclusive of a Blockade during the 4 day Easter weekend period to deliver the works. The works will be contracted under the NEC3 2013 form of contracts.
