Tetraploid Magellana gigas Programme 2018-2020

Tender description

BIM would now like to invite tenders to provide project management and labour associated with this pilot scale brood stock selection programme for the period 2018-2020. The successful tenderer will be required to verify the ploidy of all animals used in the programme and the stocks will have to be from a certified disease free source having been reared in Irish ambient conditions. Adult male and female tetraploids will be selected for growth and survival traits and crossed accordingly. The larvae resulting from these crosses will be reared as separate families throughout. Given the current capacity of existing Irish disease free hatcheries which may tender for this work it is anticipated that family lines will need to be built up over a period of 3 years so the duration of the proposed work is March 2018 to Dember 2020.
