Non-scheduled airmail transport services

Tender description

The British Forces Post Office (BFPO), part of the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) within the Ministry of Defence (MoD), provides a worldwide postal service to HM Ships and support to Operations and Exercises. The organisation is now considering the requirement for provision of services for the secure conveyance for HM Forces Mail, post September 2018. The Mail (letters and cards, large letters, small packets, and parcels up to 11kgs in weight (ships) and 2Kgs (Operations and Exercises, although, by exception, some Exercises may be allowed up to 30 Kgs) would be despatched by BFPO in mail bags for an Outbound service only. This service commences at either London Heathrow or London Gatwick. Other aspects of the requirement are described later in this Notice. Provision of Ad Hoc Mail Conveyance Service for Mail being moved outbound (i.e. service commencing from London) to locations worldwide. This Short Notice, varying volume, unknown duration, mail conveyance requirement (known as 'Ad Hocs') will be conducted in accordance with at-the-time agreements on specified flights to meet time-frames for completed movement. BFPO will require access to all Mail despatch and receipt information. A list of sample worldwide locations that received an Ad Hoc Service in 2017 will be provided in the Invitation To Tender (ITT) pack.
