The Council wished to commission a service that would provide tailored and personalised information and advice for Gloucestershire people who are planning, preparing, and paying for their care and support needs. This is as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s (the Council) response to meeting its duty to facilitate access to independent financial information under the Care Act 2014 (“the Care Act”). This information and advice service will: — help people to make fully informed decisions by providing the right advice at the right time, — help people and their carers to navigate the complex care funding system, — widen choice for people by understanding how income and assets can be used flexibly to fund a range of care options, — ensure continuity of care by making sustainable and affordable financial decisions at an early stage and — help people to understand what paid for regulated financial advice is and when it might be required in addition to free information and advice sources.
