Summary of the work Power BI Developer for Her Majesty's Passport Office's BI transformation project, working within an agile delivery team to iteratively build and implement a BI service in collaboration with the project team to deliver in Beta. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 12months with optional further period upto 12months dependent on business need. Total upto 24months Latest start date Tuesday 1 May 2018 Maximum Day Rate Market Rate Early Market Engagement Home Office have already evaluated various BI tools and chosen Microsoft Power BI as a strategic BI Visualisation Tool. SQL Server is chosen as underlying BI data platform Who Speclialist Work With There is a small team allocated to this work formed of 1 Product Manager, 1 Business Analyst, 1 BI Technical Lead, 1 Power BI developer, 1 Lead Architect, 1 Dev-ops Engineer. What Specialists Work On 1) Understanding user needs and designing services to support them. 2) Develop interactive reports and dashboards for visual insights using Power BI on premises AWS. 3) Implement Microsoft SQL databases and data warehouse services to as per the BI design and requirements 5) Implement data feeds to private cloud data stores using Data connectors. 6) Writing SQL queries 7) Document the low level technical details as per the project's technical governance. 8) Carry out and support knowledge transfer to non-technical business units Skills & Experience • Have demonstrable experience of successfully understanding user needs and designing services to support them • Have demonstrable experience of using Power BI to develop interactive reports and dashboards for visual insights. • Have demonstrable experience of using Microsoft SQL Server databases and data warehouse services • Have demonstrable experience of using Data connectors to private cloud data stores • Have demonstrable experience of successfully delivering digital solutions that collect and manage personal and/or sensitive information with appropriate controls and protection. • Have demonstrable experience of successfully delivering of public sector digital services; • Have demonstrable experience using Agile methods and practices • Have demonstrable experience of best practices in data visualization • Adept at writing Transact-SQL queries • Adept at writing DAX calculations Nice to Haves • User accessibility standards • Have demonstrable experience of successfully and collaboratively working, coaching and sharing knowledge with Public Sector client teams, particularly those with limited agile development experience • Have demonstrable experience of successfully design and implementation for cloud based BI / data analytics solutions utilising Microsoft Power BI • Have demonstrable experience of Data Analysis, Data Cleansing • Have demonstrable experience of Regulatory Reporting, Data Visualisation • Have demonstrable experience of SQL Server Analysis Services • Have demonstrable experience of SQL Server Integration Services • Have demonstrable experience of writing M queries Work Location Westminster Working Arrangments Work is based in London and will involve the supplier being on site 4 days per week to work collaboratively with Her Majesty’s Passport Office teams; travel and expenses remains the responsibility of the supplier. Service design and development must align with the Her Majesty’s Passport Office strategic technical architecture and technologies. Security Clearance SC Clearance is required. HM Passport Office will support the clearance process. Additional T&Cs Breakpoints to assess progress and quality will be set at the end of Beta phase.
