Tender description
STH currently provides Non UK derived Solvent/Detergent treated plasma for a variety of patients although the majority is used for the treatment of TTP. Data from 2015-18, shows that STH currently uses 1 250 units per annum, there is a potential that this may double in the next 3 to 5 years. Non UK derived Solvent/Detergent treated plasma is a frozen blood product. It is used where no equivalent standard NHSBT blood component is indicated or available. The main use is for: 1) Patients who have Thrombotic Thrombocytopaemic Purpura (TTP), requiring regular plasma exchange. Non UK derived Solvent/Detergent treated plasma is the recommended product to use with regard to safe and efficacy. Non UK virally inactivated Fresh Frozen Plasma is required for Patients born after 1.1.1996 as recommended by the DOH, Advisory Committee on the safety of blood, tissues and organs, SaBTO. STH requires the supply of Non UK derived Solvent/Detergent treated plasma. Providers must be able to supply all ABO types and must be able to guarantee supply of product in sufficient quantity for current and predicted use. In order to provide treatment for TTP patents we require routine 24 hour turnaround time from order to delivery Monday to Friday and a facility to provide urgent ad hoc deliveries during weekends and bank holidays.
