Award of Supported Accommodation for Looked After Children

AWARD ONLY External Supported Accommodation for looked after children required in an emergency when no other facilities are available due to the nature of care required Provided for young people aged under 18 who are supported by the Safe and Supported Teams. As planned, the number of children placed in external supported accommodation has reduced . This is a result of expansion of our in-house supported accommodation service, Starting Point and also the opening of our Staying Close unit, Elm House. There is also a commissioned supported accommodation service for under 25s which provides group accommodation or floating support for young people aged 16+. Starting Point, Elm House and the Under 25s commissioned service are always considered first before a placement with an external provider is sought. A strict approval process is in place dependant on level of support and demand.
