Tender description

Derby City Council is seeking to appoint a Service Provider to carry out maintenance of traffic signal and associated equipment. In addition the Council is seeking ways of improving performance year on year and methods of identifying sites that may require refurbishment or replacement due to aging or poor equipment. The following services are required 1. Signal Maintenance 2. Optical Maintenance 3. Out of hours fault reporting service The Service Provider shall provide a fault reporting service to operate between the hours of 06:00 - 08:30 and 16:30 - 20:00 weekdays and 06:00 - 20:00 at weekends to receive faults reported on the Derby City Council traffic signals fault line. 4. Minor / Major Repairs and Works Upon request other occasional minor tasks not definable as faults. The carrying out of these tasks shall not be to the detriment of fault repair duties These tasks will include but not be limited to: a) The switching on and off and signing of signals for roadworks, statutory undertaker works or special events b) Replacement of signal equipment damaged by minor accident, fair wear and tear or vandalism. c) Major repairs including cable repairs / replacement and equipment replacement following road traffic accidents. d) The re-cutting of detector loops. e) The making safe of damaged equipment including: • Vehicle count equipment • Variable Message Signs • Speed Activated Signs • Speed and Red Light violation Cameras • Bus stop Real Time Information signs • Bus shelters 5. Crossing Installation In addition to the Maintenance Services the Council may use the successful tenderer to supply and install new and replacement equipment in accordance with the rates detailed in the Bill of Quantities. This may include electrical design work and civil engineering works. The initial contract period is 3 years; the contract is estimated to commence 3 December 2018 and expire 2 December 2021. There will be an option to extend the contract for 2 years in annual increments, subject to satisfactory performance and business needs. Maximum contract period is 5 years Please note, suppliers wishing to express interest and obtain the documentation, must do so by 15:00 on 13 September 2018. It is recommended that you express interest and obtain the documentation well before this time to allow sufficient time to prepare and submit a comprehensive response.
