Tender description
Short Breaks provide an opportunity for disabled children and young people to access activities provided for them that are fun and creative provided to them in a caring stimulating and supportive environment. They also allow families a break from their caring responsibilities and give an opportunity to recharge their batteries and/or carry out activities with other family members. Provision of residential short breaks at a specified B and NES location — To provide overnight stays, day care and sessional visits for up to 5 children/young persons a day, 5 nights per week. In addition the provider will be required to design a programme of activities for teenagers that encourages the development of practical life skills enabling disabled young people to develop skills to live independently in the future. Provision of a Befriending / Buddy scheme offering children a positive, supportive and fun one to one relationship that enables a child or young person to access a range of community or leisure activities and experience enjoyable interactions. The matching process will be informed by the expressed needs and wishes of the young person and their family / carers. The befriender can be a volunteer or a paid employee and will spend time on a regular basis with the young person doing activities of their choice based on the child’s/ young person’s interests. Provision of targeted holiday schemes for disabled children and young people aged 3 to 19 years. This service will be available in multiple community locations to cover the whole of Bath and North East Somerset and will operate during B and NES school holidays. Evening and weekend provision within the B and NES term time school calendar. Children and young people will access a range of social experiences to build self-confidence and enjoy time outside of their family/home environment.
