Tender description

Jisc is entering into a 3 year contract with Elsevier B.V. to provide specific and unique online content to its member institutions. Jisc issued a VEAT to state that it was intending to enter into contract with Elsevier to deliver Knovel, a subscription-based, web-based application integrating technical information with analytical and search tools. The aggregate library contains over 5 700 science and technology reference works and databases, across 35+ subject collections, licensed from over 120 international publishers and professional societies. Subscriptions may consist of all or some subject collections. Elsevier provides access to this unique online content of original science and technology works into one database. This gives the institution the ability to offer its users an analytical one search function of a large collection of this material that it could not afford or manage to provide if they went individually to each source. Some of the material cannot be found elsewhere.a unique collection of online Journals published by them which is original content. Some of this comes from learned societies and institutions whose only channel for distribution of their research is via this platform.
