Tender description
Cork City Council has commenced the preparation of the City Docks Local Area Plan and the Tivoli Docks Local Area Plan, and as such is inviting tenders from suitably experienced and qualified consultants to undertake an Area-Based Transport Assessment of the combined Cork Docklands area, which includes both plan areas. The ABTA is needed to provide an understanding of the implications of development scenarios proposed for the area to inform key decisions relating to the land use, transportation, urban design, infrastructure and delivery strategies for the area. Cork City Council is ambitious about creating sustainable developments in Docklands and will actively support the optimization of sustainable (green) modes of transportation (pedestrian, cycle and PT) for these major development areas. The City Council envisages that the accessibility of the Cork Docklands will form a key part of their brand / identity and have a strong connection to the lifestyle choices that people make who inhabit the areas. The ABTA will include: (i) Complete a Baseline Assessment of the Plan Area and the Surrounding Area (ii) Establish the Context for the ABTA; (iii) ABTA Process / Options Assessment; (iv) Refinement and Sensitivity Check the Proposals (v) Finalisation of the Plans. Cork City Council’s target is to prepare the Draft Cork City Docks Local Area Plan in the first half of 2018 and to publish the Draft Plan for consultation purposes in June 2018. The target for the Draft Tivoli Docks Local Area Plan is that it should be published in July 2018. It is envisaged that work on the ABTA will commence in February and be substantially completed (to end of step iv) by the end of May 2018 (i.e. an intensive 3 month period).
