Tender description

The Fruitmarket Gallery (FMG) intends to appoint an architect-led multidisciplinary design team to refurbish the existing venue and extend into the neighbouring warehouse building. The FMG are seeking to engage an architect-led multi-disciplinary design team to work with them and deliver their vision for the project. Project Objectives: 1) To bring the building adjacent to The Fruitmarket Gallery into active cultural use, creating a new opportunity for artists and audiences, with a space that suits the way artists work now – at scale, and with an agenda for artist-led installation, performance, cross artform collaboration and programming in partnership. 2) To renovate the current Fruitmarket Gallery building, ensuring it is accessible and fit for the purpose of showing the very best 20th and 21st century visual art. 3) To maintain our priority focus on the organisation’s key strengths – programming and audience engagement, organisational agility.
