Summary of the work This is a specialist technical development role required to deliver an exceptionally high standard of code in accordance with the DVLA’s business requirements. To undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS). To work on various projects to deliver mandatory legislative changes to the central vehicles system. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 9 months Latest start date Monday 6 August 2018 Maximum Day Rate £600.00 per day inclusive of T&S Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with members of the IT Service Creation teams in the DVLA. What Specialists Work On Required to undertake development work on the DVLA’s central vehicles management system (VSS). The work includes technical analysis, low level design, production and unit testing of code using CA GEN. The specialist will be allocated to specific projects (including, but may not be limited to, capture and management of Eurostatus data, changes to the calculation and collection of HGV Levy and other published budgetary changes to vehicles Excise Duty (VED) ) and make technical changes in accordance with business requirements and technical solutions. The requirements and technical solutions will be provided by DVLA’s business analysts and technical architects. Skills & Experience • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in a CA GEN development environment. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in delivering technical analysis. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in assisting in requirements clarification. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in the production of low level technical designs and documentation. • Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) in production and execution of unit tests. Nice to Haves Provide evidence of experience (minimum of 3 years) of working with UNIX. Work Location DVLA, MORRISTON CAMPUS, LONGVIEW ROAD, MORRISTON, SWANSEA SA6 7JL Working Arrangments The nature of the work dictates the location. Access to the necessary tooling is only available onsite. Standard working week/hours to be managed by the Supplier as they see is appropriate. Security Clearance Must have BPSS clearance as a minimum. If SC clearance is deemed to be required during the contract length DVLA will sponsor the application. Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision.
