The University of Glasgow, School of Chemistry is looking to upgrade its SQUID magnetometer to allow the study of a wide range of materials including molecular magnets; magnetic nanoparticles; superconductors; self-assembling molecules; thin films; catalysts and battery materials. In many cases, samples will be challenging due to being small and weakly magnetic. A SQUID magnetometer with a pulse-tube cryocooler to eliminate the need to handle any liquid cryogens is required. The system also needs to be versatile and allow users to make electrical transport measurements and high pressure magnetic measurements, along with the option to add additional probes at a later date.
