Tender description
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) intends to appoint the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM) to develop enabling and functional gas standards for hydrogen for use within the Department’s UK Hydrogen for Heat (Hy4Heat) demonstration programme that will conclude by the end of March 2021. BEIS requires approved IGEM hydrogen gas standard(s) for use within the Department’s UK Hydrogen for Heat (Hy4Heat) demonstration programme, which has the overall aim to establish if it is technically possible and safe to replace methane with hydrogen in commercial and residential buildings and gas appliances. This will enable the Government to determine whether to proceed to a community trial. The Hy4Heat programme will conclude by the end of March 2021. IGEM will work in collaboration with industry experts to collate all existing evidence from the industry to develop the enabling and functional IGEM gas standards for hydrogen.
