Tender description
NOTE: This notice was updated on 06 August 2018 for the following reason: Withdrawal of Pre-Qualification Questionnaire as it is no longer required. Two reusable part-representations of Queen Elizabeth Class F35B aircraft FF training aids are required. These Fire Fighting training aids must be reusable part-representations of Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft that can be set alight and extinguished during Aircraft Handler Fire Fighting training. This training life is critical safety training that directly de-risks crash-on-deck scenarios. Each part must be capable of being left outside in all-weathers and repeatedly exposed to burning gas or oil to heat them to a temperature that replicates a real aircraft fire, before being drenched in a mixture of cold water and FF chemicals without significant physical degradation. Part-representation 1 will be a simple stable free-standing overhead wing stub with a support strut and undercarriage representation and is to be placed against the existing fuselage, but not attached to it. Part-representation 1 shall accurately reflect the wingtip and nose height of 7.75ft from the ground and be made from 8mm thick steel sheet and beams. While the real F35B is 15.62m in length, 10.66m wide and 4.31m in height, a full wingtip width is not required and a scaled down version at 1:1.5 would be acceptable, while retaining the actual height is essential. Part-representation 2 will be a simplified part-representation of a crashed F35B. The simple representation shall be free-standing and include a wing, fuselage, cockpit (with rear hinged opening canopy) and landing gear. The cockpit shall be sufficiently large and accessible to have a manikin repeatedly inserted and extracted. Part-Representation 2 that shall be constructed from 8mm thick steel sheet and beams and have a reinforced base.
