RCaH provides its users with the access to two state-of-the-art facilities: a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a transmission electron microscope (TEM). Both microscopes are equipped with Electron Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) detectors. These devices enable users to carry out elemental characterisation of the imaged samples, and to correlate the investigated material to a particular element. As this is a rapid, accurate and reliable analytical technique, it helps materials scientists and biological chemists to move on with their research projects. The detectors, which have been manufactured are sensitive pieces of equipment. Although the RCaH electron microscopy specialist is responsible for their routine maintenance, they require annual preventive maintenance visits, performance checks, and calibrations. This contract is for a 3- year service and maintenance agreement for the EDS detectors
