Tender description

The SHEDx contract will allow The Community Brain, a Community Interest Company (CIC) operating within the borough, to act as RBK's delivery partner for the project. SHEDx is a community-led regeneration project, geographically based in Tolworth in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. This project has been pursued following the recommendations of the Draft Tolworth Area Plan which was jointly commissioned by RBK, the Greater London Authority and Transport for London, and undertaken by consultants We Made That. The contract envisions the project to be delivered over a 21-month period. This includes a 15-month delivery period and a 6 month evaluation period. The nature of the procurement is to allow The Community Brain CIC to undertake a range of activity in Tolworth intended to galvanise local interest and support local communities to become involved in shaping change in Tolworth. This includes: — Purchasing a mobile stage and sound equipment to be used to facilitate a community designed and managed cultural programme, — Working with architects and Kingston University students to design and build mobile allotment sheds which will tour Tolworth with the purpose of engaging with communities and animating underutilised spaces with activity, — Renting a vacant premises on Tolworth Broadway for 12 months and converting this into a community-hub and local resource (exact use to be determined through community-engagement), — Working with Kingston University students, consultants We Made That, and local environmental groups to undertake a Green Infrastructure Audit for Tolworth which will form the basis of small scale public realm and environmental initiatives, — Supporting engagement activity for RBK's New Malden to Raynes Park Go Cycle link and subsequent community planting days.
