Tender description
Summary of the work Kent County Council wishes to consult with suppliers that have the capability to build and support an online interactive tool, using open data to map future growth and infrastructure projects in Kent and Medway. Please express an interest via the Kent Business Portal: https://procontract.due-north.com/Advert?advertId=3068d699-fa96-e811-80ed-005056b64545&p=8691483f-2f3d-e711-80e1-005056b64545 Latest start date Monday 1 April 2019 Why the Work is Being Done Kent County Council’s (KCC) Strategic Planning and Infrastructure team manage the development and update of the published Kent and Medway Growth and Infrastructure Framework (GIF). The GIF (currently a static document) researches, analyses and provides a picture of emerging development and infrastructure requirements, to support growth across Kent and Medway, up to 2031, including strategic planning applications and local plans. The new ‘Digi-GIF’ project aims to be an open data mapping platform to share the data behind the current GIF to make it live, open and accessible. KCC is hoping to go live with the Digi-GIF in November/December 2019. Problem to Be Solved The Growth Infrastructure Framework (GIF) is currently a static PDF document. For this reason, the GIF can only provide a snapshot of data at any one point in time and quickly becomes out of date. Kent County Council (KCC) is therefore looking to develop and maintain an interactive digitised GIF (Digi-GIF). The new ‘Digi-GIF’ aims to be an open data mapping platform to share the data behind the current GIF to make it live, open and accessible. Who Are the Users The Digi-GIF will be open access. Key users will be utility companies, the private sector or partnerships. The Digi-GIF will provide the capability to use available information as an opportunity to coordinate key strategic infrastructure programmes with other partners, ensuring that the infrastructure is in the right place at the right time which decreases overall costs and disruption in the County.
