Tender description
Woodwalton Fen National Nature Reserve (NNR) is a floodplain site to the south of Peterborough. The site is managed for conservation by Natural England (NE). The site has a number of bridges mainly for vehicles to cross the ditches that are cut through the managed land and these have a program of replacement. NE are seeking the design, delivery and installation of 7 replacement bridges. The replacement bridges shall be of sound construction to enable safe crossing of machinery up to 20 tonnes and shall have a long life span, subjected to evidence to Authority. Key Objectives are to deliver the project effectively and ensure that project completion and operational use is achieved by mid October 2018:- • To design, supply and install 7 replacement bridges around the Woodwalton Fen site to achieve the desired outcome as described in the ‘Description of Works’ covered in the Works Information document • To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Natural England staff, volunteers and visitors, by ensuring full and proactive liaison before, during and after completion of the works. • To provide a delivery service based on the requirements within the Works Information and any consequent discussions / instructions. • To achieve the minimum amount of disruption to the Woodwalton Fen site by complying with the criteria informed by the client and information within this document. Tenderers should be aware the site is a nature reserve and that all restrictions should be adhered to. • To comply with all proposed designs, Technical and Legislative Standards, local authority Planning and Building Regulations in force at the time of undertaking works. • To deliver the project safely and efficiently whilst still maintaining the sites daily operation. • To demonstrate a best value solution for DEFRA in terms of quality, cost and time. • To achieve a predictability of cost and time and to achieve zero defects. ** site visit is mandatory **
