Tender description
As a condition of licencing taxis in Warrington are required to possess CCTV systems. Approximately 600 taxis currently have such systems, however current systems do not allow the systems to be switched off when the vehicle is in private use (i.e. not operating in a licensed capacity). The Council therefore requires the provision and installation of replacement systems that comply with the Technical Specification. The Service will comprise the modification, upgrade or removal of existing CCTV systems in vehicles and the replacement with a new System that can be de-activated when the vehicle is being used privately by means of a switch placed outside of the cabin area of the vehicle, when the vehicle is being used in a private capacity. Lot 2 is for the provision of new CCTV systems that meet the Council's specification. Such systems will be paid for by the taxi owner / operator. The winning bidder for lot 1 will also be awarded a place on Lot 2. The Service will comprise the modification, upgrade or removal of existing CCTV systems in vehicles and the replacement with a new System that can be de-activated when the vehicle is being used privately by means of a switch placed outside of the cabin area of the vehicle, when the vehicle is being used in a private capacity. The Service will only be provided to vehicles where the Operator and the vehicle are identified by the Council and where a CCTV system is already installed. The Service will comprise the installation of new compliant CCTV systems in vehicles and also the possible removal of existing systems. Providers will be given a place on an approved list of suppliers by the council where taxi drivers / operators can purchase the systems and services. A maximum of 3 suppliers will be placed on this list, plus the winning bidder of Lot 1.
