Tender description

The University of Birmingham invites tenders for the supply of a package of 5 new benchtop NMR systems. Further details can be found below in Section 11.2.4 — Description of the procurement. Please refer to the tender document available on the university's In-Tend portal for detailed specifications. The supplier must be able to demonstrate what built-in features the instrument has in respect to the specification requirements and be able to demonstrate its effectiveness. 5 years maintenance costs must be included. A reliable service package is required to ensure the full upkeep and efficiency of the product. Please refer to the tender document available on the university's In-Tend portal for full details. The approximate budget for this project is 320 000 GBP. Confirmation of the actual required delivery date will follow via In-Tend correspondence. Please note it is crucial to the project that the supplier must be able to adhere to the given delivery date once this is confirmed. The University of Birmingham invites tenders for the supply of a package of 5 new benchtop NMR systems. The requirements for this equipment are: — a minimum of 3 instruments to operate at a 1H resonance frequency 60 MHz, — all instruments capable of measuring 1H and 19F nuclei, — 2 instruments with the ability to measure 1H, 19F and 13C nuclei, — 1 instrument with the ability to measure 1H, 19F and 31P nuclei. It is highly desirable that at least one instrument is equipped with gradients (# 10 G/cm) and capable of performing pulsed-field gradient methods such as diffusion ordered spectroscopy (DOSY). It is desirable for at least 1 instrument to have the ability to perform solvent suppression and be capable of achieving a 1H NMR line width of < 0.2 Hz (at 50 % peak height — FWHM) and < 10 Hz (at 0,55 % peak height). It is desirable that at least 2 instruments can achieve a 1H NMR sensitivity # 200:1 (1 % ethyl benzene) and 1H NMR line width < 0,5 Hz (at 50 % peak height — FWHM) and < 20 Hz (at 0,55 % peak height). It is desirable that more than 2 instruments can achieve a 1H NMR sensitivity # 180:1 (1 % ethyl benzene) and 1H NMR line width < 0,5 Hz (at 50 % peak height — FWHM) and < 20 Hz (at 0,55 % peak height). It is highly desirable that the spectrometers can be positioned and repositioned around the laboratory with minimal restriction on where they can be located and without the requirement for a site survey. Requirements for all spectrometers: — a shielded (2 Gauss line within enclosure) magnet, — capable of 1D and 2D homonuclear and heteronuclear spectra of (where relevant) 1H, 13C, 19F and 31P nuclei, with program library allowing for: 1H: 1D spectrum, 2D-COSY, 2D-J-resolved, 2D-TOCSY, T1 and T2 relaxation measurements, — 13C: 1D, DEPT, 2D heteronuclear correlation experiments HETCOR, HSQC, HMQC, HMBC, — 19F: 1D spectrum, 2D F-F-COSY, 2D F-H-COSY, — 31P: 1D, 2D HMBC, — capability of selectable 1H decoupled / coupled 19F spectra (in 1D and 2D), — operates using standard 5 mm NMR tubes, — software or hardware based lock, removing the need for deuterated solvents, — ability to swap quickly between the nuclei without requiring hardware changes or retuning by the user and without need of the NMR technical staff, — stable system that does not require frequent shimming, — a software package and design allowing walk up use by users of different skill levels, from undergraduates upwards, — capability to perform continuous-flow reaction monitoring with minimal adaptation would be desirable, — stable magnet that can be placed anywhere in the laboratory near other equipment without issue and without conducting a site survey, — updates and upgrades to software for acquisition computers are required for the duration of the service contract at no extra cost, — a training package must be provided for a group of users. Support and service help: A reliable service package is required to ensure the full upkeep and efficiency of the product. This can range from service care contracts for durations after installation to warranties for equipment and what they include. This also will include all technical support and training as well as potential application requirements in the future. The suppliers will agree to provide operational support for the duration of the paid for service contract. The University will be conducting a full OJEU Tender with the option of an e-reverse auction to follow after the desktop evaluation exercise has been completed, inviting those suppliers who have been successful in meeting the requirement criteria. Please note: if the decision is taken that an e-reverse auction is not appropriate then your quotation will be scored in the desktop evaluation exercise. If the decision is taken to go ahead to an e-reverse auction then your quotation will not be scored in the desktop evaluation exercise and will instead be taken as your opening bid at the e-reverse auction stage.
