Chapman’s Pond Draining and Infill Feasibility Study

Chapmans Pond is a former brick pit with natural spring. Whilst in use as a brick pit, a pump was used to take the water away from the site. We understand that the brick pit ceased to trade in the 1950’s and the natural water source was left to fill the former brick pit. The site is allocated for housing in the recently approved Local Plan, 5 year land availability assessment. The Council are keen to work with the owners of the land to encourage development on what is a strategically important site with the potential of up to 300 units. One of the barriers to development is the cost to drain and fill the pond, making it ready for residential development.
