Tender description

Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council are seeking either a single provider or a partnership bid to deliver Care Act Advocacy and Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) across Coventry and Warwickshire. Care Act Advocacy will cover duties for s67 and s68 within the Act. It will be for indiviudals who are entitiles to advocacy services under the Care Act 2014 to enable them to fully participate in their Assessment, Care and Support Planning, Adult Safeguarding and Reviewing enquiry process. Under the Mental Capacity Act the Local Authority has a duty to provide an independent advocate for people who lack the capacity in certain circumstances when there are no known relatives or close friends to speak for them. This includes people whom are: — covered by the Mental capacity Act (2005) — The individual has no one other than paid staff with whom “it would be appropriate to consult”. The Code of Practice 10.74 — 10.78 provides more information about how this decision can be made.
