Tender description

This is not a call for competition. The UK Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) has been set up as a partnership between a group of Universities carrying out leading Railway Research and the UK Railway Industry. The University of Huddersfield has been selected as the lead partner to develop the Rolling Stock Innovation Centre. The Center aims to meet the current and future demands of the GB Rail Industry for Research and Innovation to support the next generation of Railway Vehicles. The Center will be integrated into the UKRRIN and will focus on the major themes of Reduced Whole Life Cost vehicles and Future Low Energy vehicles. During 2018, The University of Huddersfield intends to procure key pieces of equipment critical to the success of the facility. It is envisaged that the requirement will be tendered in 3 lots, however, this may change as the requirements become more defined. 1) Braking and Adhesion Facility - Full-scale HiL climatic train braking and adhesion test facility. 2) Hybrid Drivetrain and Dynamics Facility - Complete bogie propulsion, drivetrain and running dynamics test facility. 1) Advanced Virtual Prototyping Laboratory (AVPL) - World class facilities for CAE, virtual prototyping and approval, maintenance and life-cycle assessment. 2) Flexible HiL Facility - Equipment to allow twinning and hardware in the loop operation of main rigs. 3) Passenger & Crew Environment Rig (PACER) - On-board comfort, ride quality and environment simulator for passengers and train crew. 4) Reliability engineering facility - HiL combined with Fog/Edge. Pantograph/OLE interaction Dynamics Facility - Pantograph test bed.
