The University of Southampton has a requirement to procure a femtosecond laser to be used by a range of research scientists and PhD students. All proposals should include a laser system capable of producing pulses the range of specifications listed below, a full set of measurements and tests of the beam parameters, temporal and pulse-to-pulse power stability plots, an operating manual, 12 month warranty and details of a service contract. 1. The University of Southampton has a requirement to procure a femtosecond laser to include installation, training an operating manual and support, 12 month warranty and details of a service contract. 2. Implementation requirements: One day of on-site included as service visit to check parameters setting and check the hardware, software functionality and training. 3. Contract Management Requirements: The University should be able to enter into a contract for a maximum period of 12 months with the successful supplier. This will comprise of an initial contract period with an option to exercise an extended warranty or maintenance agreement subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of the University. Specification of Equipment. a. Mandatory: — minimum pulse duration < 200 fs, — maximum pulse energy > 1 mJ, — average output power > 1 W, — controllable laser repetition rate 1 kHz to 100+ kHz, — capability for laser pulse on demand, via Python, with low time latency and high pulse-to-pulse repeatability, — exceptional energy stability < 0.5 % RMS, — output beam quality M2 < 1.3, — pulse contrast < 1:100. b. Desirable: — average output power > 5 W. — output beam quality M2 < 1.1.
