Tender description

The aim of this project is to enable batch scale production of electrochemical devices, such as batteries and supercapacitors. These devices are to be produced in a manner which closely reflects industrial standards, this will minimise the effort required when transitioning to a larger pilot-scale production line. Cell containment will be achieved using aluminum laminate foil to form what is known as pouch cells. The batch scale production line should be automated where readily applicable and appropriate. Batch production has been defined as either 20 devices per day or 100 devices per week. Both aqueous and organic electrolytes may be used. The intended facility will have 120 m2 of general laboratory space and 40 m2 of dry room space. The approach to production has been split into 2 core areas (Lots): — electrode fabrication, and, — cell fabrication. It is important to note that production rates and capabilities in these 2 areas should be compatible with each other. Please refer to procurement documents.
