Design and installation of a Spitfire Sculpture – Soft Market Testing Exercise

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking to commission a suitably experienced Sculptor and community engagement facilitator to develop and deliver a new sculpture on the Roundshaw estate in Wallington to commemorate those who fell in World War II. Design Ambition: Working with the Flightpath Residents Association, local community and the Council, we would like to commission one sculptor who will design, create and install with the support of a project manager an engaging piece of artwork in the form of a spitfire sculpture. The theme of the sculpture should draw on the history of the Spitfire Squadron 92 that were based on the original Croydon Airport site. All designs have to be approved prior to commencing. London Borough of Sutton is inviting all interested parties to participate in a soft market testing exercise to refine the specification for the Spitfire Sculpture. Sutton Council will use the information gathered during soft market testing to reflect the expertise and capacity of the current market. Interested parties are asked to firstly review the draft commissioning specification and then provide answers to the questions as set out below. A soft market testing event will also be held on Wednesday 31 January between 2.30pm 4.00pm at the London Borough of Sutton Council Offices, Denmark Road, Carshalton, SM5 2JG.
