Tender description

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is a non-departmental public body created in 2009 by the Marine and Coastal Access Act. MMO reporting is primarily under Defra with cross-departmental support. MMO licence, regulate and plan marine activities in the seas around England and Wales so that they are carried out in a sustainable way. Specific responsibilities include marine planning, marine licensing, managing fishing fleet capacity / quotas, creation of marine conservation byelaws, enforcement for protected areas species and habitats, and responding to marine emergencies. These functions help achieve the government vision for clean, healthy, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas. Further information on the Authority can be found at MMO. Project Aim To understand the extent and conditions under which birds may acclimatise to disturbance pressures generated by marine activities.
