Tender description

Network Rail’s current Barrier Machine specification (BR843) was written in 1991 and barrier technology has moved on significantly over time, as have the materials that are commonly used. Barrier Machines are a significant reliability issue at level crossings. The barrier boom intact and barrier machine power pack are two of the prominent reliability issues and requirements for theses are being updated as part of a technology agnostic performance specification which is being developed to modernise the design, mitigate known reliability issues and allow other barrier machines technologies and materials to be considered. Machine guarding of moving parts is also to be a key feature of this new specification. Network Rail welcomes your views and if you wish to take part in the market research for this supply please contact Sharon Graham at Sharon.graham@networkrail.co.uk for a presentation pack. The closing date is 2.8.2018. Network Rail is developing a new performance specification to cover their requirements for Barriers and Barrier Machines at level crossings. Network Rail will be looking for a supplier or suppliers to provide barrier machines that will deliver the requirements of the new specification.
