Tender description

The provision of bariatrics services for patients meeting the requirements set out in the service specification for patients in Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and South Cumbria. This notice lists the CSU as being the main contracting body however the CSU is publishing this document on behalf of the following Clinical Commissioning Groups: NHS Fylde and Wyre CCG NHS Blackpool CCG NHS Morcambe Bay CCG NHS Greater Preston CCG NHS Chorley and South Ribble CCG NHS Blackburn with Darwen CCG NHS East Lancashire CCG NHS West Lancashire CCG NHS Liverpool CCG NHS Knowsley CCG NHS Southport and Formby CCG NHS South Sefton CCG NHS Halton CCG NHS Wirral CCG NHS Warrington CCG NHS St Helens CCG NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG NHS Vale Royal CCG NHS West Cheshire CCG NHS South Cheshire CCG This notice has been published pursuant to Regulation 32.1b (ii) of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. This notice regards a Tier 4 service that has conditions that require a specific clinical setting. Commissioners have attempted procuring this service in the past but failed due to the market's inability to provide the services in line with the demands associated with Tier 4 Bariatric Surgery whereas University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust as an NHS organisation has the infrastructure required to deliver this service in a way that secures clinical assurance with an established and have done so already for a year. The commissioners are keen to explore the possibilities of having this service delivered in alternative ways. In order to enable a more sustainable service for patients commissioners have opted to award a longer contract University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust to allow CCGs the time to properly explore the market with a view to a procurement taking place through 2018/19 which will either by on a CCG, STP or multi STP footprint.
