Tender description

The City of Wolverhampton Council is looking to commission services from suitably qualified Provider(s) who can offer the provision of Section 12 doctors Assessments to eligible customers to safeguard against an unlawful deprivation of liberty taking place. The Supervisory Body, under the terms of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and as amended by the Mental Health Act of 2007 have a duty to ensure that Best Interest Assessors are available to complete a range of assessments in hospitals and care homes. The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, which provides the essential framework for people who need to make decisions on behalf of someone else who lacks mental capacity. They are used to protect the rights of people who are deprived of their liberty so that they can be given necessary care or treatment. The Supervisory Body (The City of Wolverhampton Council), under the terms of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and as amended by the Mental Health Act of 2007 (MHA) have a duty to ensure that Best Interest Assessors (BIAs) are available to complete a range of assessments in hospitals and care homes. The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards are part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, which provides the essential framework for people who need to make decisions on behalf of someone else who lacks mental capacity. They are used to protect the rights of people who are deprived of their liberty so that they can be given necessary care or treatment. It is envisaged that this Framework will be available to the Contracting Bodies named within the tender documentation. It will initially be in place for a 2-year period with the option to extend for up to a further 1-year period The anticipated spend for Wolverhampton per annum is 259 000 GBP. This over the 2+1 gives a total value of 777 000 GBP. Taking into account the potential spend by other authorities within the West Midlands, the total spend is therefore 3 885 000 GBP.
