Introduction Abeona Housing Co-Op Ltd is seeking the professional services from an Auditor with specific experience in dealing with Housing Co-Op providers. The Audit will need to conform in accordance with the applicable accounting standards including Financial Reporting Standard 102 the Financial Reporting Standard Applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for Social Housing Providers 2014, the preparation of the audited accounts will be in accordance with the requirements of Homes England and Accountings Standards. and with the Accounting Direction for private registered providers of social housing in England 2015. The financial statements need to be prepared under the requirements of the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 and the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK and Ireland) in order to provide reasonable assurance that our financial statement are free of material misstatement, SCOPE OF THE AUDIT OF THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS The audit will involve obtaining evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements sufficient to give reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether caused by fraud or error. This includes an assessment of: whether the accounting policies are appropriate to the Co-operative's circumstances and have been consistently applied and adequately disclosed; the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by the Board; and the overall presentation of the financial statements. In addition, the auditor appointed will be required to read all the financial and non-financial information in the report of the Board to identify material inconsistences with the audited financial statements and to identify any information that is apparently materially incorrect based on, or materially inconsistent with, the knowledge acquired in the course of performing the audit. If the auditor becomes aware of any apparent material misstatements or inconsistences then consideration of the implications of these will need to be highlighted within the final report. OPINION ON FINANCIAL STATEMENTS The Auditor should provide their opinion on the financial statements: • give a true and fair view of the state of the Co-operative's affairs as at 31st December 2018 and of its income and expenditure for the year then ended; and • have been properly prepared in accordance with the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 and The Accounting Direction for Private Registered Providers of Social Housing in England 2015.
