North Pennines AONB Partnership

Tender description

The North Pennines AONB Partnership is the lead partner for Work Package 6 (Digital Geological Interpretation) of the INTERREG project and will lead on a European-wide tender for ICT services to deliver geological, historical and landscape interpretation across the 11 Global Geoparks. Our vision is to make learning and understanding about the geological heritage of the Geoparks more appealing to the general public; encourage interaction and engagement with the geological heritage of the Geoparks by adults and children; and to open up areas to exploration which otherwise aren’t accessible. The project outputs will need to include audio trails, augmented reality and a treasure hunt function, for each of the 11 Geoparks as a way to engage people and encourage the exploration and understanding of Geoparks. Contractors can interprete these requirements in any way they wish but still need to be identifiable as the outputs above. We need an ICT product that can be used by public users visiting all 11 Geoparks, and administered, updated and serviced by staff, without ICT backgrounds, employed by each of the Geoparks. We envisage that the same basic framework will be used for each of the Geoparks. However the app will then make available the country specific information, in the language native to the country.
