Tender description

The TXA autoinjector must be able to hold 6-10mls of liquid TXA, or potentially two 5ml auto-injectors, (usual dose is 1g in an adult patient but this may be reducible to 0.6g, options to reduce the overall volume should be considered). The product should have a shelf-life of at least 6 months, preferably one year. The product casing needs to be robust, both in terms of drug stability and component parts, in order that it can withstand a military environment and penetrate military clothing. The product labeling or marking needs to be completely obvious in how to administer the autoinjector and must comply with UK medicines legislation. In order to procure rapidly, ideally an off-the-shelf auto-injector is desirable. As part of the tender assessment we are asking the supplier to provide samples which can be tested by the user. The successful tenderer will then initially only be awarded a contract to produce a batch to be used for licensing, further testing and approval by the Ministry of Defence’s Surgeon General’s (SG) Military Advisory Group. The contract will include an option to procure the auto injectors following approval by the Military Advisory Group.
