DCC would like to invite you to attend an engagement event in Exeter on Tuesday 24th July at 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. The event will allow us to share our current thinking, and seek your expert knowledge and views to further inform our plans. We want to ensure that good quality, appropriate nursing home provision continues to be available for all clients with increasing complex needs into the future. For further details please read II.2.4) In developing our accommodation strategy Devon County Council (DCC) and partners recognise there is a lack of supply of specialist nursing home beds in Devon that can meet the needs of people with the most complex needs and behaviours. Clients are often accommodated outside of the Devon County Council area due to the difficulty in accessing appropriate provision locally. DCC are in the early stages of our strategic planning to address this, and we want to engage with the independent sector to seek your input and expertise at this key initial stage. DCC has actively undertaken a needs analysis, and considered options that could potentially assist us, with our NHS partners, to consider how the following types and complexity of client needs can be met: — those with challenging behaviours, — those displaying disinhibited sexual behaviour, — younger adults with life limiting illness, — those with advanced levels of dementia and cognitive impairments, — those with general nursing needs.
