Tender description

LTE Group is the parent body of The Manchester College (TMC). TMC together with UCEN Manchester, form one of the largest FE colleges in the UK. A strategic review has been undertaken and has identified the need to restructure the TMC estate both in terms of buildings and curriculum; the outcome of the review was an ambitious strategy to reduce the overall estate by over 30 000 m2, and reduce the number of campuses from 14 to just 5, including the establishment of a new Manchester City Centre Campus. TMC is therefore seeking to procure a suitably experienced constructor to assist with the development and delivery of the first phase of anew campus in Manchester City Centre. The first phase is anticipated to provide general and specialist teaching and ancillary accommodation across 18 500 m2. TMC are expecting to commence the procurement of a constructor in Summer 2018, with a target appointment made in Autumn 2018. Initial occupation of the new accommodation is targeted by TMC for the start of the academic session commencing 2020/21. A final procurement strategy is yet to be resolved, however strategies being considered include for early contractor engagement and the facility for the successful constructor to take responsibility for at least a portion of the finalised design work. The scope of works in anticipated to include an element of pre-construction advice, development of contract information and delivery of the new accommodation. The new accommodation is anticipated to be 18 500 m2 in size and the contract works are anticipated to include the construction of the new building, new incoming mains supplies, adaptations to surrounding highways, associated public realm works and finalisation of the detailed design.
