Tender description

Somerset County Council is looking to run an 18-month pilot with a small group of independent providers, to offer emergency residential provision to children aged between 11 and 18, in Somerset. We will be looking to block book placements in small residential homes which recruit, train and retain highly skilled staff to deal with escalated behaviour and reduce it to a level which standard placements can manage. All beds in each home will be block-booked for the use of Somerset children, avoiding difficulties in matching with children from other authorities. Providers will be selected through an Expression of Interest process, with a focus on outcomes for children and young people which allows providers to describe their own ideas for delivery. We are looking for different models of care, to suit the individual needs of different children. This will enable useful dialogue between SCC and interested providers on the future model and aspects of the potential procurement.
