Redevelopment and Restoration of Old Library Tuebrook - Main Contractor

Tender description

The aim of the project is to refurbish and re-model the Grade II former Andrew Carnegie Library to provide much needed community services to the neighbourhoods of Tuebrook and Old Swan. The ‘Old Library’ will act as a focus for community activity, providing a wide range of functions to extend Lister Steps current activities. • Full repair and restoration of the existing building incorporating the retention of key features identified in the conservation plan. • Adaptation and conversion of the existing building to provide the range of spaces outlined in the accommodation schedule. • Addition of a new build extension to house ancillary functions including kitchens, deliveries and dining space. • New building services to be provided throughout. • Consideration of the external areas to provide adequate external play and public outside space to compliment the proposed uses. • Opening up of the existing boundaries to make the building more readable. • Create a welcoming public face to the building that encourages people to use the facility. • Consideration of the building entrance position parking and drop off location. • Create a secure environment for childcare, in accordance with Ofsted/ DofE requirements • The completed facility to be fully accessible (within the limitations of the existing building).
